The sealing of tanks
The sealing of tanks is useful to control or justify that the tanks have been cleaned according to the hygiene requirements and are ready for use. The internal cleaning of a tank must comply with the HACCP standards so as to prevent any pollution risks.
The internal cleaning of containers used for liquid or powdered food products, or non food products is realized according to a procedure determined by the previously transported product, which can change some criteria such as water temperature, cleaning time, additional detergents and drying.
Food transport :
The tanks can be filled with various food products like milk, oil, wine but also petrol for instance.
A seal on a filled tank guarantees that there has not been attempted theft or burglary.
Lately burglaries have been noticed particularly on foreign carriers who had mixed products in the same tank. As far as Europe is concerned awareness is required. General Directorate for competition and fraud prevention will shortly increase controls so as to enforce hygiene rules.
